Acceptable Use Policy

Last Updated: 25 October 2026

1. About this policy

This policy is part of the Terms of Service. You're responsible for all use of the Service under your account, including by your team and your customers.

2. What's not allowed

Breaking the law or others' rights

  • Using the Service or its data in breach of any law, including data protection, privacy, intellectual property and export laws.
  • Processing personal data without a valid legal basis.
  • Using the data in ways that break X's terms or policies.

Harming people

  • Harassing, stalking, threatening or doxxing anyone.
  • Tracking, profiling or building files on specific people without a lawful basis, including for surveillance.
  • Spam (unsolicited bulk posts, DMs or mentions), phishing, scams or impersonation.
  • Discriminating against people based on protected characteristics.

Abusing the Service

  • Getting around rate limits, quotas or billing.
  • Creating several accounts to get extra free requests.
  • Sending X sessions or auth tokens for accounts you don't own or aren't authorised to use, or using someone else's API key.
  • Attacking, probing or overloading our systems, or uploading malicious code.

Resale

  • Reselling or sharing your API key, or offering an API built on ours, without our written consent. Building your own app or product that uses the data is fine; reselling raw API access is not.

Sanctions and financial crime

  • Use by or for anyone under EU, UN, US or other applicable sanctions.
  • Money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing or other financial crime.

3. Personal data in API results

You are the controller for personal data you get through the Service. You need a legal basis, must tell people how you use their data, keep it secure, answer their requests and delete it when you no longer need it.

4. What we look at

We don't review the content you request or what you do with it, and that doesn't mean we approve any particular use. We use request logs (kept 90 days) for billing, troubleshooting and spotting abuse.

5. Enforcement and reports

If you break this policy we may block requests, suspend a key or close your account as described in the Terms, and report it to the authorities where the law requires. To report misuse, email support@tweetapi.com. We review reports promptly and share information about customers only when the law requires it.

6. Changes

We update this policy the same way as the Terms.
